According to beneficiaries, their harvest was for consumption to sell some to generate income. These groups were also encouraged by LDS staff to save planting materials for their next farming activities. Farmers were taught new planting methods to increase yield. This crop intensification method was intended to increase their yield on comparatively smaller parcel of land and thereby save fallows to minimize the effect of climate change. In addition to training, LDS provided tools and improved planting materials. The challenge was inadequate inputs to meet the demands of the number of farmers that expressed interest in the training.
