Telemai Community proudly hosted the successful launch of the Adaptation Project Policy Guideline, a landmark framework aimed at boosting climate resilience and sustainable development in the region. The well-attended event brought together an impressive array of leaders and stakeholders, signaling a strong, unified commitment to environmental protection and adaptation efforts. Gracing the occasion was District Commissioner, Hon. John Golimah, whose presence underscored government support for climate action. He was joined by the Police Commander, City Mayor, Chief Education Officer, and the District Attorney, all pledging their institutional backing for the policy’s implementation.
The program also featured key contributions from the faith and development sectors. Rev. Mulbah Zayzay, a consultant, presented the Ecosystem Development Guidelines, offering practical strategies for balancing environmental conservation with community needs. Additionally, the General Secretary of the Liberia Council of Churches, Rev. Christopher Toe, and the General Secretary of the Lutheran Church of Liberia added their voices, emphasizing the moral and spiritual imperative of caring for creation.
Meanwhile, Mulbah Jackollie, the project’s focal person, provided a detailed overview of the initiative, outlining its purpose, core objectives, and planned activities. He explained that the launch not only marked the introduction of the policy guideline but also set the stage for community-led actions to tackle challenges such as flooding, soil erosion, and dwindling natural resources.
Hon. Golimah lauded the community’s readiness to embrace the project, while the City Mayor stressed integrating adaptation measures into municipal planning. The Chief Education Officer highlighted the importance of environmental education in schools, and both the Police Commander and District Attorney committed to ensuring legal compliance with environmental regulations.
The ceremony concluded with a symbolic signing of the policy document, cementing a collaborative pledge between community leaders, government representatives, religious institutions, and civil society partners. The event was hailed as a new chapter for Telemai. One in which united action and shared responsibility will drive climate resilience for generations to come.
